As part of a project commemorating the 20th anniversary of Yasuhisa Hara's popular manga "Kingdom," which is serialized in "Weekly Young Jump" (Shueisha), a set of comics called "Kingdom BOX Set" will be released for four consecutive months starting May 19th. The comics will be organized by chapter and housed in a specially designed box.
The first release, "Kingdom BOX Set 1: The Battle of Hebikan Plain (Recapture of the Royal Capital Arc)," contains the "Battle of Hebikan Plain (Recapture of the Royal Capital Arc)" as depicted in volumes 1-10 of the manga. The beautifully illustrated presentation box features bold designs of color illustrations and memorable scenes from the included volumes.
The second installment, "Kingdom BOX Set 2: The Defense of Mayang and the Battle of Sanyang," will be released on June 18th, the third installment, "Kingdom BOX Set 3: The Coalition Army," will be released on July 17th, and the fourth installment, "Kingdom BOX Set B 4: The Rebellion of Cheng Jiao, The Battle of Zhuoyong, The Unification of Qin, and the Battle of Heiyang Hill," will be released on August 19th.
"Kingdom" began serialization in "Weekly Young Jump" in 2006. Set in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods of ancient China, it depicts the exploits of Shin, who aims to become a great general, and the drama of heroes such as Qin Shi Huang, who would later become known as the First Emperor of China. In 2013, it won the Grand Prize at the 17th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize. The cumulative sales of the comic books exceed 120 million copies.
The TV anime series has also gained popularity, with the first series airing from June 2012 to February 2013, the second from June 2013 to March 2014, the third from April to October 2021, the fourth from April to October 2022, the fifth from January to March 2024, and the sixth from October to December 2025. Production of a sequel to the sixth series has also been announced. Live-action film adaptations have also been a hot topic, with the first film released in 2019, the second in 2022, the third in 2023, and the fourth in 2024. The fifth film in the series will be released on July 17th.
