A new one-shot chapter of Masami Yuki's manga "Mobile Police Patlabor" was published in the May 18th issue (No. 25) of the manga magazine "Weekly Big Comic Spirits" (Shogakukan). This marks the first new chapter in approximately 32 years since the series ended in 1994.
"Mobile Police Patlabor" is a multimedia project created by the legendary creative group "HEADGEAR," consisting of Masami Yuki, Yutaka Izubuchi, Kazunori Ito, Akemi Takada, and Mamoru Oshii.
It began in 1988 with six OVAs (Original Video Animations) called "Early Days," and has since expanded into manga by Yuuki, television anime, theatrical anime films, novels, audio dramas, and games. Yuuki's manga was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" from 1988 to 1994.
The new anime series, "Mobile Police Patlabor EZY," has also been generating buzz. The new series consists of three chapters and eight episodes in total, with the first chapter released in theaters on May 15th. The second chapter will be released on August 14th, and the third chapter in March 2027. Issue 25 of "Spirits" magazine also features a special article on the new series, "EZY."
