The lineup for Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi, Monday-Friday 1pm), which will air from May 18th to 22nd, has been announced. The 18th will feature a tribute to author Aiko Sato. The 19th will feature actor Jean Reno, the 20th will feature actor Jiro Sato, the 21st will feature singer Mie Nakao, and the 22nd will feature actress Erika Toda as guests.
On the 18th, the program will commemorate author Aiko Sato, who passed away on April 29th at the age of 102 due to old age, with footage from the past.
On the 19th, 77-year-old Jean Reno appeared on the show. He was in Japan for his first solo performance in which he recounts his life story. He has been married three times and has six children ranging in age from 47 to 14. His wife of 20 years was also in the studio, making it their first television appearance together.
On the 20th, 57-year-old Jiro Sato appeared on the show. He won the Japan Academy Prize for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2025 film "Bakudan" (The Bomb). He said that after graduating from university, he got a job at Recruit but quit after only one day. He spoke about how his wife supported him through the tumultuous and rough days of his twenties.
On the 21st, Ms. Nakao, who will soon be 80 years old, made an appearance. She said that she still maintains a figure that allows her to wear a dress from 30 years ago, and that she continues her daily routine of doing radio calisthenics with her neighbors. She also mentioned that they all enjoyed cherry blossom viewing together in the spring.
On the 22nd, Toda will make her first appearance. Her father is a Shorinji Kempo master, and she was strictly taught manners and greetings. She reflects on her roots, including her father's words that encouraged her to move to Tokyo at the age of 16, and the love of her family that she felt when she returned home. She also talks about her gratitude for life, which she gained from her experience of playing a turbulent life in her latest work, and her aspirations for the future.
