◇The following contains spoilers.
In episode 4, Luna (Ryuto Sakuma) and Ryoko (Aso) race through the streets of Osaka searching for Kazuto (Ryuto Sakuma) in order to retrieve a "lost item in their lives" that has been weighing on their minds. They visit shops and companies with the surname "Sato" in search of clues, and their vast list is down to just three places. Just as they are about to give up, a young man named Kanade (Sakuma, playing a dual role), who bears a resemblance to the man from back then, appears before them. He, too, seems to be concerned about Luna and Ryoko as they search for Kazuto.
When he led her to a wooden house, she was greeted by Kiwako (played by Suzuki Sawa), the woman who had been by Kazuto's side when he said goodbye to her. Kazuto's sister, Kiwako, revealed to Ryoko, "I've always wanted to apologize to you. Kazuto... my brother passed away 23 years ago, four months after he said goodbye to you..." and the story unfolded from there.
Later, Ryoko learns about Kazuto's feelings for her, which had not been revealed at the time. Having understood everything, Ryoko visits Kazuto's grave and then smiles and tells Luna, "I'm glad you brought me to Osaka. I'm glad I got to meet Kazuto." Luna then says she has somewhere to go and leaves Ryoko to go alone to a place where she can see Tsutenkaku Tower. As Luna calls the person she was meeting to say, "I've arrived," the person who comes running up to her is Ryoko's husband, Kikuo (Naoki Tanaka), and Luna and Kikuo greet each other with "Hello."
On social media, many people expressed surprise that Luna and Kikio were connected. Comments included: "What!? She was in contact with her husband!?", "What kind of relationship do they have?", "What exactly is Luna plotting?", "Who is Darling?", "I'm stunned by this unexpected ending", "I guess her husband is the editor and Luna is the writer after all", and "Could Kikio be Darling?"
