In anticipation of the start of the TV anime "Atelier of Witch Hat," based on the manga by Kamome Shirahama, on April 6th, a project featuring support illustrations by renowned manga artists and illustrators has begun. As the first installment, an illustration by Tsurumai Ikada, the author of the manga "Medalist," has been released. Along with a congratulatory message for the series, it depicts Coco, Kieffrey, Agate, and Fudemushi wearing flying boots that allow the wearer to float in the air.
In the support illustration project, illustrations will be introduced sequentially on the official X account (@tongari_anime) from March 29th to April 5th. In addition to Tsurumai Ikada, other participants include Kiko Urino Kikuko, author of the manga " Alice, Dokomademo ", the illustrator unit "Gurihiru" who are active worldwide as American comic artists, TAa, author and illustrator of the manga "Today's Menu for the Emiya Family", Mizutori, illustrator who has worked on illustrations for numerous books and games, Yamaguchi Tsubasa, author of the manga "Blue Period", Yamazaki Kore, author of the manga " The Ancient Magus' Bride", and Wada Arco, illustrator who has also worked on game character designs such as "Fate/EXTRA".
"Atelier of Witch Hat" tells the story of Coco, a girl who longs to be a wizard, as she steps into the mysterious world of magic. The series began serialization in "Monthly Morning Two" (Kodansha) in 2016, and has sold over 7.5 million copies. It has been selected for manga awards in France, Spain, South Korea, and other countries, and in 2020 won the Eisner Award for Best Asian Work, attracting attention from around the world.
The anime will be directed by Ayumu Watanabe and produced by BUG FILMS. It will begin airing on TOKYO MX and other channels from April 6th.
