It has been announced that the TV anime "Iwamoto Senpai no Susumei," based on the manga by Hiroshi Shiibashi, known for works such as "Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan," will begin airing in July. Additional cast members have also been announced, with Akira Ishida playing Tachibana Shiro, the headmaster of Seihou Junior High School.
Ishida commented, "The 1910s have a pleasantly hazy image, and I feel that it is a setting with great depth that can incorporate the many mysterious incidents depicted in the work, the unique environment of being a student at an army middle school with a subtle sense of aestheticism, and the differences in the balance of power with foreign countries. There are many highlights, such as the rich variety of stories brought about by the appearance of various unique individuals with special abilities, and the charm of Iwamoto Kodō's stoicism, so please enjoy the anime version as well."
It was also announced that Masaya Fukunishi will play Okuaki Yuji, a fourth-year student at Seihou Junior High School and vice president of the student council, and Takuma Nagatsuka will play the mysterious boy Aonuma Shizuma. A promotional visual for the broadcast and the second promotional video were also released.
The series is a manga currently serialized in the manga magazine "Ultra Jump" (Shueisha), and is a romantic fantasy set in 1910s Japan, depicting the human drama of Iwamoto Kodō, who attends Seihō Junior High School, which is directly under the army, and other people with supernatural abilities.
In the anime, Taito Ban will voice the protagonist, Kodou Iwamoto, Yuki Sakakibara will voice Iwamoto's cute junior, Kai Haramachi, and Kento Ito will voice another junior, Soichiro Amaba. Toshifumi Kawase will direct, Keiichiro Ochi will handle series composition, and Atsuko Nakajima will be in charge of character design. Studio Deen will produce the anime.
