Model and actress Meru Meru Nukumi actor Shunsuke Michieda and director Miki. There was a moment when Director Miki apologized, saying he had "underestimated" Nukumi.
The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Misaki Ichijo (KADOKAWA). It is a love story depicting the 10-year romance between Haruto Mizushima (Michieda), the protagonist who secretly enjoys writing poetry, and Ayane Tosaka (Ikumi), who has developmental dyslexia, a condition that makes it difficult for her to read and write, but possesses talent for singing and composing.
To play Ayane, who makes her major debut as an artist, Ikumi took on the challenge of playing the guitar despite having no prior experience. She practiced singing and playing the guitar for about a year and a half. Ikumi recalled, "There was a day when I felt like I was about to give up on myself for the first time."
Director Miki praised Ikumi's acting, saying, "I was really surprised to see that she could act like that. She sang with raw emotion, and in the live scenes, she was in the zone, almost losing herself in the performance. The moment I saw the footage, I was moved to tears on set." He continued, "She exceeded my initial expectations by 200%. I have to apologize; I underestimated Ikumi. I think the audience also made many new discoveries, thinking, 'She can do this much?'" Ikumi responded, "I'm so happy, it gives me energy!"
