It has been revealed that singer-songwriter Yasuyuki Okamura and Kento Nakajima will be performing the opening theme song (OP) "Shunpatsu-teki ni Koi Shiyou" for the TV anime "Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!", based on Harunori's "classic BL romantic comedy" manga. Okamura wrote, composed, and arranged the song, and it is said that he intuitively offered Nakajima the collaboration, resulting in the miraculous realization of their vocal collaboration. Artist visuals and the cover art for the digital release, drawn by the original author Harunori, featuring Okamura and Nakajima, have been released. The anime's main promotional video has been released on YouTube, and the song has been unveiled.
Okamura said, "When I received the offer, I read the original work and thought about what kind of music would be appropriate. Then one morning when I woke up, the melody was clearly in my mind, and I thought, 'Ah, this must be it.' From there, the whole picture of the song suddenly became clear, and I started composing. At first it was a solo piece by me, but soon it turned into talk of a collaboration, and after discussing it with everyone on the project, the collaboration with Kento Nakajima came to fruition. We performed together at 'MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2025,' and I saw his solo live performance, and I felt a strange connection. It felt like the melody I heard in my dream and our real-life encounters were all coming together later on. This work was born from such a series of coincidences."
Nakajima commented, "I was very surprised when I heard about this right after performing with Okamura-san at the 'MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2025' last year. I felt very honored to receive musical inspiration I had never experienced before. The demo he gave me had a melody that made me want to dance, reminding me of Okamura-san's lighthearted performances that I've seen him do on music programs, and I really enjoyed the recording. Collaborating with Okamura-san taught me about the concept of singing according to the lyrics, and I feel like I learned from him about the intricacies of arranging singing styles and the ultimate stylish way to sing."
The opening theme song, "Shunpatsu-teki ni Koi Shiyou," will be available on various music streaming services starting April 2nd.
This popular work depicts the fantasies and reckless actions surrounding the unrequited love of shy high school student Nakamura Otoko for his classmate Hirose Aiki, all in a style reminiscent of the 1980s and 90s. It is serialized on the website "HERO'S Web".
The anime will begin airing on TOKYO MX and other channels from April 1st.
