It has been revealed that the two-hour suspense drama "Traveling Medical Examiner Dojo Shusaku," in which actor Takashi Naito plays a retired medical examiner, will be adapted into a film. Naito commented, "I would be delighted if this work could gently touch upon the memories and lives of everyone."
"Traveling Coroner Dojo Shusaku" is set in various parts of Japan and tells the story of retired Metropolitan Police Department coroner Dojo Shusaku (played by Naito), who travels around Japan with his late wife's notebook in hand, uncovering the truth behind crimes. The first series aired on BS Nippon Television's "Reiwa Suspense Theater" in December 2023, with six series currently airing.
The film will be directed by Kanesaki Ryosuke, known for "Kasouken no Onna" and "Iryu Sousa," and the script will be written by Fukasawa Masaki and Sugishita Naoya. Details such as the cast and filming locations have yet to be announced, but the tagline on the teaser visual, "A Journey with My Late Wife: The Truth Twenty Years Later: A Twisted Reward," provides a hint. It is scheduled to be released nationwide from June 12th.
