The main trailer for "Dorohedoro Season 2," the sequel to the anime "Dorohedoro," based on the manga by Q Hayashida, has been released on YouTube. "Season 2" delves into Kaiman's mysterious past, deepening the chaos that surrounds him. The trailer features dynamic battle action and comical exchanges between characters, creating a sense of speed and chaotic energy.
The cast members who will be playing the new members of "Jujime," who will appear in "Season 2," have also been announced. Jujime has a connection with Kaiman and the Smoke Family, and will be played by Daiki Hamano Koki Uchiyama as Dokuga, Daiki Hamano as Tetsujo, Yuichi Koshimura as Saji, Katsuhito Nomura as Ton, Atsushi Imaruoka as Ushijimada, and Sara Matsumoto as Natsuki.
Uchiyama commented, "Dokuga is a member of the Jujime clan, and is a character who works hard and lives his life with his comrades. I tried to express the character's voice while keeping in mind the unique atmosphere that makes Dokuga unique, and at the same time, the sense of teamwork with his Jujime clan comrades. I hope that fans of the original work and those who have already enjoyed Season 1 of the anime, as well as those who are not yet familiar with Dorohedoro, will be able to become fully immersed in the world of Dorohedoro through Season 2."
Hamano said, "I will be voicing Tetsujo. My name is Daiki Hamano. As an executive at the Cross Eyes, Tetsujo works hard every day doing side jobs...no, trying to raise funds. In a world where common sense doesn't apply, Tetsujo is a man of common sense. How will he survive in the world of Dorohedoro, sharing the good times and the bad with the poisonous moths...Tetsujo! Please enjoy this funky, gooey, messy, chaotic story."
Koshimura said, "I'm Koshimura Yuichi, and I played Saji, a hardworking man of simple poverty. I'm filled with anticipation and anxiety as to how the surreal contrast between Saji and the characters will be conveyed to viewers. When asked what kind of work Dorohedoro is, I always have trouble answering in one word. It's a work where characters with different goals and values get all mixed up together, all wrapped up in an epic storyline. That's right, Dorohedoro is basically gyoza. So, we could say we're vinegar and soy sauce? Please enjoy, hoping that we can become a sauce that suits your taste."
Nomura sent a message saying, "I was blessed with the good fortune of playing one of the close-knit group of cross-eyed friends. The pig is always smiling, seems to be having fun, and has a strong sense of camaraderie... which makes him seem like the main character, but this is Dorohedoro! Following on from the previous work, it was also announced that the creative unit (K)NoW_NAME will be in charge of the opening theme "Zettai MUST Danmen" and the ending theme "Return to Head."
An advance screening of episodes 1 to 3 of "Season 2" will be held at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo) on March 22nd. Wataru Takagi, who plays Kaiman, Kondo Reina, who plays Nikaido, Uchiyama, who plays Dokuga, and Hamano, who plays Tetsujo, will be in attendance. On the day of the screening, participants will receive a free "Noi's Magic Powder (bath additive)" as a special gift.
"Season 2" is the first sequel in about six years since the TV anime first aired in 2020, and will be directed by Yuichiro Hayashi, as with the previous work, and produced by MAPPA. It will be "released almost simultaneously worldwide" on various distribution platforms every Wednesday at 11:00 PM from April 1st.
"Dorohedoro" is a dark fantasy that follows a man who loses his memory after his head is transformed into a lizard by magic, and who tries to regain his true identity and memories. It was serialized in manga magazines such as "IKKI," "HiBANA," and "Gessan" (Shogakukan) from 2000 to 2018. An anime adaptation aired on TV from January to March 2020.
