Actor Wakana Matsumoto will grace the cover of the spring issue of beauty magazine Biteki GRAND (Shogakukan), which goes on sale on March 12th. She shows off her beautiful, translucent skin with a light, one-tone coral makeup look that evokes the feeling of spring.
Matsumoto celebrated her 42nd birthday on February 25th. In the interview, she revealed that the secret to her beauty routine is that she has started to pay careful attention to moisturizing her skin after learning that foundation and primers don't work as well as they should if you don't take good care of your skin.
On the other hand, she confesses, "I don't want to get rid of wrinkles." "I feel like if I didn't have laugh lines, the feeling of 'good fortune' would disappear, and the facial expression with laugh lines is something I couldn't pull off in my teens and twenties..." she says, adding that she would like to "grow wrinkles" just as clothes and watches fit her better.
Matsumoto often plays women who face challenges, such as a single mother struggling to rebuild a breeding farm in last year's popular drama "The Royal Family" (TBS). In the drama "Taiketsu" (NHK BS/BS Premium 4K), which starts on April 5th, she will take on her first role as a newspaper reporter. She will play the protagonist, Kikuno, who pursues suspicions while facing unreasonable discrimination in a male-dominated society.
"The theme of discrimination against women was something I couldn't avoid," says Matsumoto. She talks about her own experiences of gritting her teeth in the face of the injustice of being told, "It's impossible because you're a woman," and shares her thoughts on the film.
The same issue will also be released with a special edition with a different cover, in which Matsumoto shows off a dignified look with her hair tied up, wearing makeup that features brown lips.
