While Mirai (Shida) is away on a long-term location shoot for a movie, Masaki (Akihisa Shiono) and other members of the theater troupe take care of Souta.
One night, Souta and Saori (Nishino Nanase) receive a message from the future saying that all filming has finished. Souta asks Saori to call him on his smartphone, and reports back to him, "I've been a good boy. I've made friends with everyone and we've had curry, fish, and omelet rice."
Souta, who didn't cry even when he bumped his forehead at nursery school, boasted to Mirai, "I didn't cry." When Mirai said, "Mommy did her best too," Souta's pent-up emotions came flooding back and he burst into tears, saying, "But the truth is, I wanted to see Mommy. I want to see Mommy."
Hearing Souta's tearful voice, Mirai's eyes filled with tears and she poured out her feelings on her smartphone, saying, "Mom, I've wanted to see you for so long too."
On social media, comments such as "I can really feel Souta's desire to be with him forever and it brought me to tears," "Souta's tears made me bawl my eyes out," "'I want to see my mommy' - I can't stop crying," "Souta's acting is so good and cute that it brings me to tears," and "Isn't Souta just too cute!?" were spreading.
