It has been announced that the "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash - The Witch of Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack: Hathaway's Flash" (directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino) and the 1988 anime theatrical anime "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash : Char's Counterattack" (general director Tomino Yoshiyuki), will be held for three days only from March 13th to 15th.
The two films will be screened simultaneously because "Char's Counterattack" depicts the final showdown between Amuro Ray and Char Aznable, who influenced Hathaway Noah, the protagonist of "Hathaway's Flash," as well as the meeting and parting with Quess Paraya, Hathaway's first love.
To commemorate the simultaneous screening, a mecha art visual drawn by CG director Takayuki Masuo has been released. Paying homage to the visuals of "Char's Counterattack," it depicts a battle scene between the XI Gundam and the mass-produced Nu Gundam.
"Hathaway's Flash" is based on a novel published in 1989-90 by director Yoshiyuki Tomino, known as the creator of the "Gundam" series. Set in the year 0105 of the Universal Century, Hathaway, the son of Bright Noa, who experienced a bitter separation during the Second Neo Zeon War, pilots a new mobile suit, the XI Gundam, and rises up in rebellion against the Earth Federation government.
It has been announced that the anime will be made up of three chapters, with the first chapter being released in June 2021. The second chapter has been a hit, grossing over 2.24 billion yen in the 29 days since its release on January 30th.
