Series 2 of NHK's comedy drama "The Incidents Happen Around It," starring actress Fuka Koshiba, will be rebroadcast for four consecutive nights starting March 2nd in the station's "Yoru Dora" time slot (General TV, Monday to Thursday, 10:45 a.m.).
The drama is a new type of situational comedy set in a small local police station, focusing not on the crime itself but on the troubles that arise around it. It is produced by the staff of NHK's popular comedy program "LIFE!". Ko Shibasaki plays the lead character, detective Mano Ichika, who hates to lose and wants to accomplish everything on her own. Series 1 will air in 2022, and Series 2 in 2024. Due to the overwhelming response, Series 3 is also in production, starting on March Getsuku.
In addition to Koshiba, the drama also stars Masaru Kasamatsu, Yukiya Kitamura, Kana Kurashina, and Shuhei Nakano. Kasamatsu plays Kazuto Udagawa, an efficiency-oriented rationalist who casts a cold eye on Mano, Kitamura plays Makoto Tanizaki, Mano and Udagawa's superior and a police inspector who is 10 years older than him, Kurashina plays Mai Mukaida, a self-proclaimed former ace of the forensic science lab, and Nakano plays Reo Tokudaiji, a traffic police officer who has a crush on Mano.
The synopsis of each episode of Series 2 is as follows:
◇Episode 1: "Investigation Headquarters"
The investigation headquarters set up at Shingetsu Police Station is being withdrawn following the arrest of the culprit. However, Mano (Koshiba) seems to be in a bad mood. Something that Mano prepared for the assembled investigators proved unpopular, resulting in a large amount of leftovers. Udagawa (Kasamatsu) and his superior Tanizaki (Kitamura) even call him "tasteless," and he also takes out his bad mood on Mukaida (Kurashina), the former ace of the forensic science lab, and Tokudaiji (Nakano), who has feelings for Mano. The next day, a big argument breaks out over what a tasteful "wedding gift" was...
◇Part 2: "Interrogation"
In the interrogation room, Mano sits intently facing the witness, Ikeuchi (Kimura Midoriko). He seems to have evidence that could lead to the culprit of the snatch-theft, but for some reason, Ikeuchi has remained completely silent. Inspector Tanizaki and Mukouda, watching from another room, are puzzled, but Udagawa theorizes that the cause lies in a certain word uttered by Mano...
◇The 3rd "Raid"
A fraud group's hideout was uncovered thanks to voice analysis by Mukaida, a former ace at the forensic science lab. It was a great achievement, but Mukaida was so absorbed in the analysis that he neglected the appraisal that Udagawa had requested. Meanwhile, Mano is tasked with rating Inspector Tanizaki under a personnel system in which subordinates evaluate their superiors. Mano is unsure how to rate him, and Tanizaki seems extremely worried about Mano's evaluation. Meanwhile, it is discovered that some of the investigation information has been leaked to a reporter...
◇No. 4 “Criminal Life”
Mano's locker is crammed with sentimental documents and items that he just can't bring himself to throw away. His boss, Tanizaki, sees this and orders him to get rid of unnecessary materials. Udagawa is tasked with helping out and tries to declutter, but Mano can't make up his mind. Mukaida and Tokudaiji get caught up in the battle between Udagawa, who wants to throw things away, and Mano, who doesn't want to throw them away...
