It has been announced that the drama "Revenge of the Betrayed: The Wives Who Formed an Alliance," starring actors Ayame Mizusaki, Mariko Shinoda, and Nako Yabuki, will start airing late at night on April 1st on TV Tokyo's "Suidora 25" (Wednesdays at 1 a.m.).
This live-action film is based on the manga of the same name (illustrated by Kira and written by Futaba Aoi), which has been downloaded over 2.8 million times on e-book stores. It is a poignant yet refreshing "muddy adultery revenge story" about three "betrayed wives" who plot revenge against their cheating husbands.
Mizusaki plays Kishimoto Natsuko, who witnesses her abusive husband having an affair and decides to take revenge; Shinoda plays Endo Yoshino, who is so angry at her husband's affair that she comes up with the idea of a "revenge alliance"; and Yabuki plays Saotome Reina, who has achieved her dream of marrying a wealthy man, but whose husband is having affairs with multiple women.
Mizusaki said, "This work very realistically depicts the pain and anger of the betrayed, as well as the choices that follow, and it really moved me. Natsuko is not just a woman who seeks revenge; she is a person who, despite being hurt, protects her dignity and tries to reclaim her life as a woman. How will the three best friends work together to get revenge? I hope you look forward to this thrilling yet relatable work."
Shinoda said, "Agreeing to an 'iron rule' with my fellow wives and sending their cheating husbands to hell will be an exciting challenge I have never taken on before. I will not let anyone escape until all my revenge is complete. I will approach the role with that resolve, so please come and witness this brutal lynching! I am already excited to see what kind of revenge I will carry out (laughs)."
Yabuki said, "When I read the script, I felt a tightness in my chest and a thrilling sense of revenge, and I naturally empathized with the characters. It's also a work that will make you reexamine how you interact with people. Please look forward to it!"
