The long-running variety show "Shinkonsan Irasshai!" (ABC TV/TV Asahi, Sundays at 12:55 PM), hosted by Fujii Takashi and Inoue Sakura, will air a special one-hour special on February 15th to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the show's first broadcast, with a trip to Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. MCs Fujii Takashi and Inoue Sakura will tour local power spots for good luck with guest actress Kimura Tae, while also looking back on five newlywed couples from the more than 5,000 couples who have appeared on the show so far, and introducing how they are doing now.
The first couple, a 72-year-old couple from Osaka City, appeared on the show in June 2014. Immediately after the opening greeting, the husband's dentures fell off, causing the MCs at the time, Bunshi Katsura and Mami Yamase, to burst into laughter. 12 years later, when the staff visited their home, they found the couple looking healthy and happy, surrounded by "Newlyweds Come On In!" merchandise. The show received a great response after it aired, with the husband, a former taxi driver, receiving many positive reactions from customers.
The second couple appeared on the show in June 1980, a married couple from Hirakata, Osaka Prefecture, aged 26 and 27 at the time. They were dentists who met at dental school, and when the MC, Katsura Bunshi, visited them at home, they discovered they had become a large family, with one son and six daughters. 42 years after their first appearance, they appeared on the show for the fifth time as "The Couple I Want to See Again," and five of their seven children had become dental specialists like their parents, and they had all married and had children, making their family a large one of 17. They are set to add two more children this year, bringing the total to 21. Their grandchild has also declared that he wants to become a dentist.
The third couple, a 33-year-old couple living in Hidaka County, Hokkaido, competed in March 2015. They were the first couple with stepchildren in the show's history, meeting when the wife's father and husband's mother remarried. They met when the husband was 20 and the wife was 10. The wife, who had always admired shoujo manga, had fantasized about a forbidden love story with a cool older brother. 10 years later, her brother, drunk, approached her and asked if he could kiss her, making it a reality... 11 years later, the staff visited their home and found that their shoujo manga-style relationship, in which she still calls him "big brother," was still going strong. Their 12-year-old daughter, who knew how they met, expressed a tolerant view, saying, "It's fine if you're siblings, as long as you love each other."
The fourth couple was a couple from Itabashi Ward, Tokyo, who appeared in the "Devil's Guise" in December 2019, aged 1,00029 and 1,00025 (?!). They met at a live performance by the heavy metal band "Seikima-II," both of whom appeared in white makeup. The couple were given "Crown Princes of Hell," who are now 10,0003 and 100,000 years old, and they are excited about starting a family band when they grow up.
The final couple, a newlywed couple from Kamakura City, will compete in July 2022 after Fujii and Inoue became MCs. They are a 25-year-old and 32-year-old couple. They have a magical "Poyo-go" (Poyo-go) that stuns the studio, earning 3.35 million views on the show's official TikTok. When the two MCs visit their home, they are treated to Kiyoken's "Mini Jumbo Shumai at Home." This is MC Fujii's first visit to a newlywed's home, but his wife still erupts in her mysterious "Poyo World." Their bedtime ritual of "playing the Poyo train" leaves the two MCs stunned. The couple are planning their wedding reception soon and have asked the two MCs to send a video message. The ceremony, held the day before the broadcast, will be featured on the show.
