It was revealed on February 10th that the three-member rock band "Mrs. GREEN APPLE" will be performing the theme song for the NHK morning drama "Kaze, Kaoru," which will air in the first half of 2026 and star Ai Mikami and Juri Uesaka, starting on March 30th. The title of the theme song is "Kaze to Machi."
Motoki Omori, who appeared in the morning drama "Anpan" in the first half of 2025 as Isetakuya, recalled, "I was very honored to be asked to take on the role. Personally, it was a very stimulating experience to be appearing in "Anpan" while also producing the theme song for "Kaze, Kaoru."
"In the midst of turbulent times, I created 'Wind and Town', focusing on the two main characters and pouring all my love into it as a small celebration of life for all the characters who appear. I feel that the way the main characters embrace life and strive to be strong in order to survive conveys something very important to us who are living in the present. I hope that 'Wind and Town' will also gently comfort those who watch 'Wind, Fragrance'," he commented.
"Kaze, Kaoru" is the 114th serial TV drama. Set in the Meiji era, it is a buddy drama featuring two trained nurses, Ozeki Chika and Suzuki Masa, as its two protagonists. The two graduated from the same nursing school, but struggle with how to interact with patients and doctors, and grow through clashes, eventually becoming the "strongest buddy." Migami plays the lead role of Ichinose Rin, while Uesaka plays Oya Naomi.
◇Comment from Production Supervisor and Chief Producer Takehiro Matsuzono
Rin and Naomi, the two protagonists, plunge into the dawning world of nursing during the turbulent Meiji era, and face many challenges. What they continue to face are "life" and "life." No matter how hard they try, they face a reality where their efforts are unrewarded, and obstacles they cannot overcome. Even in times like these, I wanted "Kaze, Kaoru" to be a theme song that would gently support and comfort the protagonists. The first name that came to mind was Mrs. GREEN APPLE. Their vocals and performances are filled with fresh vitality. Their lyrics make you feel like you're standing next to those who are hurting or feeling lonely, and suddenly wanting to hold their hands. They have released a series of diverse, multifaceted songs, and at their core, they have a life-sized perspective on "life." The theme song "Kaze to Machi" was created after we communicated the themes we wanted to portray for "Kaze, Kaoru" and had many conversations with the cast. It is a song that conveys the important things that remain unchanged no matter how much the times change, or how relationships and circumstances change. The day is fast approaching when we will be able to deliver "Kaze to Machi" to you every morning, along with this drama. Please look forward to it.
