Actor Yuki Amami attended the opening day stage greeting for the film "You are there, beyond the top" (directed by Junji Sakamoto), starring Sayuri Yoshinaga, held in Tokyo on October 31st. In response to the question "What is beyond the top for you?" in reference to the title, she answered "I am there."
Amami commented, "No matter how far I go, I think it's always a battle with myself. I can't see the top no matter how much time passes, and it's always a battle with myself. With every production, I'm confronted with my own lack of talent. I really have to fight against that."
Yoshinaga, who is now 80 years old, said, "Even at my age I think, 'It's no good, it's no good,' but then I think, 'Maybe next time it will be a little better.'" Amami responded with a sigh, "It's beautiful that you are fighting against such things."
Amami continued, "I think that once you think, 'This is great!' you'll have given up. You'll feel frustrated, you won't be able to do it, you'll want to try again..." and appealed to the audience, "People from all walks of life, and students alike, are probably always battling with themselves. This is a film about the people who support those who fight. I hope it will give you courage."
