Model Hikari Mori will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), airing on June 24th at 1 PM. Her grandmother was Hanae Mori, one of Japan's leading fashion designers, and her sister is model Izumi Mori. In tribute to her grandmother, she will appear wearing a suit designed by her grandmother during her lifetime.
Ms. Hoshi is fascinated by urushi (lacquerware), a traditional Japanese technique. She became completely captivated by the charm of urushi after repairing a broken vase, and sometimes visits artisans to learn more about it. She also says she is working hard on restoring a large old house built during the Meiji era.
In her twenties, she traveled the world and immersed herself in the forefront of fashion, but now that she has discovered the beauty of traditional Japan, she says she has come to deeply understand the meaning of design, which her grandmother worked on to introduce the beauty of Japan to the world.
