Hiroya Ishibashi, who plays Gai, also known as "Blazing Gai," and Takeshi Kusao, who plays Ryo Sanada, also known as "Fiery Ryo," made an appearance. "Yoroiden Samurai Troopers" is the first new anime in approximately 35 years since the OVA "Yoroiden Samurai Troopers MESSAGE," released in 1991, and the first TV anime series to be broadcast in approximately 37 years. The appearance of Ryo Sanada, the protagonist of "Yoroiden Samurai Troopers" and the first Samurai Trooper, in the first season also became a hot topic. Kusao revealed his thoughts on "Samurai Troopers" and behind-the-scenes stories from the recording of the new series.
Kusao revealed, "In episode 6, the Reiwa-era Sanada Ryo will unleash the Twin Flame Slash. At the beginning of episode 6, there's a scene of them getting armed, just like in the old 'Ronin Warriors,' and that part is newly recorded!" Ishibashi seemed excited during the recording, exclaiming, "It's the real thing in the booth!" Kusao joked, "He put pressure on me (laughs). I was feeling the pressure."
The appearance of the shining emperor in white armor also became a hot topic. Kusao said, "The Sanada Ryo of the Reiwa era is in his 50s, but he's still going strong! Physically, he has the image of being young, around 30 years old. When I heard the shining emperor's lines again after a long time, I got goosebumps remembering a lot of things. My body just remembers." He approached the recording with great enthusiasm.
Kusao said, "I never imagined it would turn out like this in the Reiwa era. When I read the script, I thought I was Moroboshi Dan, who trained Leo in 'Ultraman Leo.' In 'Yoroi Shinden,' time has passed even in the world of the anime. He has grown both mentally and physically, so it might have been good to have a scene where he puts him through the wringer like a strict instructor. I wanted to see more interaction between 'Yoroi Den' and 'Yoroi Shinden,' showing that he doesn't want to become an old fogey, but that he does get things done when it matters."
When asked about "Yoroi Shinden," Kusao smiled and said, "There are some brutal scenes in the first episode, but it's still cheerful, isn't it? Maybe that's what the Reiwa era is all about? I'm trying not to become a grumpy old man in the corner of the studio," to which Ishibashi responded, "That's not true at all!" showing his respect for his senior.
At the screening, the second season's visual, featuring the four Samurai Troopers Kaito, Musashi, Yamato, and Shion, along with Yashima no Sagume from the Tendoukai, was unveiled. The second season's main promotional video also featured Yashima no Sagume, Inmei, Gomei, Shimei, and Gaimei from the Tendoukai, who hold the key to the second season.
Kusao commented on the upcoming second season, saying, "There will be lots of quirky characters. Will we be able to win?! It's even more unconventional and sharp than the first season. Look forward to the final scene!" Ishibashi, after seeing the visuals and PV, said, "Where's Guy?! What's going to happen? I want to make a comeback as the main character, so please support me!"
"Armor Legend Samurai Troopers" is a completely original story set in present-day Shinjuku. Yoichi Fujita, known for "Gintama" and "Mr. Osomatsu-san," is directing, while Shogo Muto, known for "Kamen Rider Build," "Crows Zero," and "Thermae Romae," is in charge of series composition and scriptwriting. It will be broadcast in two parts, with the first part airing from January to March. The second part will begin airing on July 7th on TOKYO MX and other channels.
"Ronin Warriors" is an anime produced by Sunrise that depicts five boys who possess "Yoroi Gear" (armored suits) being brought together by fate to fight against the demonic army led by the demon emperor Arago.
