It was revealed on April 26th that comedian Mitsuyoshi Uchimura will be the main host of Nippon Television's charity program "24-Hour Television 49 - Love Saves the Earth -" to be broadcast on August 29th and 30th. The announcement was made on the same day's broadcast of "Sekai no Hate Made Itte Q!", and Uchimura commented, "This is my first time taking on this challenge, so I think there will be many things I'm not used to, but I hope that with everyone's help in various ways, we can create a fun program together."
The theme for this year's 49th broadcast of "24-Hour Television" is "My Family Story - Who Do You Think of?". The program aims to examine the current state and future of society and its problems through the family stories told by each individual, and to consider society from the perspective of the "family".
The decision to appoint Uchimura was made because he has supported the program and its cast, who form a "family," as the MC of "Sekai no Hate made Itte Q!" for many years. He will take on this long-term challenge alongside Shinichi Hatori and announcer Asami Miura, who have served as the main hosts since 2014 and have supported the program for a long time.
◇Comment from Mitsuyoshi Uchimura
When I received the offer, I couldn't help but exclaim, "Oh!" I had been in charge of some segments before, but I never imagined I would be the main host, so it was a real surprise.
Thoughts on the "24-Hour Television" program
By donating, we can use the funds to help those in need. I believe this is a very traditional program, with a great deal of effort put in by so many people 24 hours a day for that purpose.
Things I'm worried about before the actual performance
My biggest worry is my stamina! That's really the only thing I'm worried about. I did sleep for 23 hours once when I was twenty, but I haven't stayed awake for more than 24 hours recently. And then there's my concentration. Sunday mornings are always a dangerous time for me, aren't they? (laughs)
・Message to our viewers
This is my first time doing something like this, so I'm sure there will be a lot of things I'm not used to, but I hope that with everyone's help, we can create a fun program together. I apologize in advance if there are any mistakes. Since it's a live broadcast, I'm sure there will be all sorts of things that happen, but I will do my best, so please tune in for 24 hours!
