As soon as Sanma saw Suzuki Mogura of the comedy duo "Kuki Kaidan" sitting on the stage, he called out, "Hey! Earthworm!" and was astonished by how thin he had become, saying, "You've gotten so skinny. You're not a mole anymore, you're an earthworm!"
When Mogura revealed that he had successfully lost 32 kilograms from 110 kilograms, the studio erupted in excitement. His co-stars expressed their surprise with comments such as, "That much?", "Seriously?!", and "I'm worried, are you okay?".
Mogura previously revealed on the same program that she was suffering from such severe hip pain that she couldn't even sit cross-legged. Her weight of 110 kg was a major burden on her hips, which prompted her to go on a diet. Last year, she underwent surgery to have an artificial hip joint implanted.
Mogura jokingly explained, "I had surgery, and now I'm completely mechanical. My upper and lower body are connected by machinery." Regarding the lifespan of the artificial joint, he said, "It lasts for 20 years," but added, "I can't have surgery anymore. The human body is amazing. The bone tries to make the artificial hip joint part part of your own body and becomes one with it. If you try to replace it, you have to replace the bone as well. That's not possible, so its lifespan is about 20 years."
Mogura's drastically thinner appearance has sparked comments on social media such as, "She's lost so much weight!!", "I'm shocked by the dramatic change", "It's been a while since I've seen her, but she's really lost weight, it's amazing", "I'm so curious about how she lost weight that I can't concentrate on what she's saying", "She lost 30 kilos and looks like a mechanical mole", "Her face looks so much slimmer", and "I'm sure she's on a healthy diet, but I'm worried about her..."
