It has been announced that a special one-shot manga collaboration between Momoko Sakura's popular manga "Chibi Maruko-chan" and "Crayon Crayon Shin-chan," titled "Chibi Maruko-chan : 'Maruko Meets Shinnosuke'," will be published in the May issue of the manga magazine "Ribon" (Shueisha), which goes on sale April 3rd.
This 17-page color one-shot story follows Maruko as she visits her local department store and coincidentally encounters Shinnosuke, the "storm-bringing five-year-old"... The two slightly mischievous characters engage in a thrilling and unpredictable exchange.
Botan Kohagi of Sakura Production, who worked on the one-shot, commented, "While both are works that depict family, ' Chibi Maruko-chan' and ' Crayon Shin-chan' each have their own unique charms, and now they've collaborated in an unexpected way. I hope you'll enjoy Shin-chan's cuteness and the humorous banter that's unique to both works. Please check out their first meeting and the day they spend together in Ribon magazine."
To commemorate the collaboration, a "round pouch" featuring original illustrations from "Chibi Maruko-chan" and "Crayon Shin-chan" will be included as a bonus item.
"Chibi Maruko-chan" is a manga series set in Shimizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture (now Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City), depicting the daily life of Maruko, a third-grade elementary school student, and her family and friends. It began serialization in "Ribon" magazine in 1986.
