NHK's Asadora drama series "Kaze,Kaoru " (NHK General, Monday-Saturday 8:00 AM, etc.), starring Ai Mikami and Juri Kosaka , is the 114th morning Asadora and is based on the story of two trained nurses, Chika Ozeki and Masa Suzuki. Naomi Oya, played by Uesaka, is the protagonist of this work. Abandoned by her parents shortly after birth, she was raised by a Christian pastor. Having moved from church to church, she has no one she can call "family." For Naomi, the only things she can believe in are her own strength and luck. She doesn't care how much shame she has to endure. Having lived a life where pride was of no use, she has the flexibility and shrewdness to not hesitate to tell a few lies or cheat to achieve her goals.
Ichinose Shin'emon, played by Kazuki Kitamura, is Rin's father. He was a former chief retainer of a small domain in the Nasu region. Before the Meiji Restoration, he resigned from his position as chief retainer and became a farmer, and has continued to refuse offers to become a government official. He has a gentle personality and has taught Rin and Yasushi to "think for themselves."
Ichinose Mitsu, played by Mizuno Miki, is Rin's mother. She was born into a family of the former lords of a small domain in Nasu. She became a farmer, and even after the Meiji Restoration, she never lost her pride and possessed the courage to wield a naginata herself when necessary. On the other hand, she also has a fondness for new things.
Ichinose An, played by Hayasaka Miharu, is Rin's younger sister. She is two years younger than Rin. She hopes to marry into a good family someday. She observes her family's actions calmly.
Yoshimasa Nakamura, played by Takashi Kobayashi, is a former retainer who served Shin'emon. After being dismissed from the Ichinose family in the Meiji era, he became an official in Tochigi Prefecture. He continues to visit the Ichinose family frequently.
Kotaro Takeuchi, played by Toranosuke Kobayashi, is Rin's childhood friend. He was born in the same village as Rin and is the eldest son of the Takeuchi family, who were formerly foot soldiers. He and Rin have been close friends since childhood, but he is acutely aware of the disparity in their upbringings.
Takahiro Miura plays Kameji Okuda, the owner of Okudaya. He started a transportation business in the Meiji era in the town next to the village where the protagonist Rin lives and made his fortune in one generation. He is looked down upon by the owners of long-established shops.
Okuda Sada, played by Negishi Kie, is Kamekichi's mother. She takes pride in having worked together with Kamekichi to make the Okudaya family successful. Tired of being treated as a nouveau riche by those around her, she proposes marriage to the Ichinose family in order to acquire a prestigious family name.
Yoshie Zensaku, played by Harada Taizo, is a Christian pastor. He has been quietly watching over Naomi ever since he took her in four years ago. He respects Naomi's wish to be independent and they live separately, but he is always concerned about her.
Mary, played by Anya Floris, is a missionary who watches over Naomi.
Oyama Sutematsu, played by Mikako Tabe, was a noblewoman who symbolized the era and was known as the "Flower of the Rokumeikan." She has a profound influence on the lives of Rin and Naomi.
Iwao Oyama, played by Masahiro Takashima, is the husband of Sutematsu Oyama. He was the Minister of the Army at the time and later became the first Minister of War.
Eisuke Kohinata, played by Kisetsu Fujiwara, is a young man who has a "fateful" encounter with the protagonist, Naomi, in a certain place. He is a Navy lieutenant who has returned from America.
Shimizu Usaburo, played by Bandō Yajūrō, is the owner of "Mizuho-ya," a shop in Nihonbashi that deals extensively in imported goods. He becomes deeply involved with the main characters, Rin and Naomi.
Yanagawa Fumi, played by Uchida Chika, is an employee at "Mizuho-ya," a shop in Nihonbashi that deals extensively in imported goods. She knows the shop's products better than anyone and is also adept at serving foreign customers.
Kisuke Matsubara, played by Fumiya Ogura, is a shop assistant at "Mizuho-ya," a store in Nihonbashi that deals extensively in imported goods, but he is also in charge of the role of head clerk.
Katsu Kaishu, played by Tsurutaro Kataoka, is an old acquaintance of Usaburo and occasionally drops by Mizuho-ya.
