It is the oldest Japanese waka poem found in the Kojiki." Heaven was thrilled, saying, "Yakumo.... How wonderful! I feel like I've met a Japanese person."
The Japanese name of Lafcadio Hearn, who served as the model for Heaven, was Yakumo Koizumi.
