It has been revealed that actress Kanna Mori will be starring in her first lead role in the April drama series "Too Much Love and Murder" (NTV, Monday midnight 12:24). This will be the first drama since NTV's late-night drama slot "Drama DEEP," which previously aired on Tuesday nights, moved to Mondays, and Mori will play a detective investigating a series of murders of men who have had relationships with her.
Tanizaki Manami, played by Mori, is a detective in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigative Division who has had nearly 50 relationships at the same time, calling them her "my loves." She enjoys life with a variety of my loves, from the tsundere type to the muscular type, the dried-up old man type, the serious type, the junior type, and the sadistic type, but one day, a series of murders suddenly occurs in which the men she has had relationships with are killed one after another. Teaming up with Souma, a junior detective who has a crush on Manami, she pursues the truth behind the strange series of murders... This is the story. The script is written by Sawada Kota, who also wrote the script for "Hatsukoi Under Dogs: Loser and First Love," a side story of "First Love DOGs" (TBS).
Mori commented, "When I received the offer, I was filled with pure joy, as it was my first time to play a lead role alone. The film is humorous enough to make you chuckle, but it also weaves in the loneliness and conflicts that people carry in their lives. I hope that through Manami's way of life, viewers will be able to feel the freedom of caring for someone and the strength of love."

--What were your thoughts when you heard the offer?
When I received the offer, I was filled with pure joy, as it was my first time to play a lead role alone. Then, when I heard that it was a "female detective with 50 lovers," I got very excited at the thought that I would be able to play such an interesting character.
-What did you think when you read the script?
When I read the script, I thought, "Is it going to follow this pattern?" but it was completely different. The atmosphere changes completely with each story, so I couldn't predict what would happen next, which made it very interesting.
--What kind of character is Manami?
Manami is a free-spirited woman who has had many romantic relationships, but she also knows each of her lovers' blood types, zodiac signs, birthdays, and more, and is truly in love with all of them.

This work is packed with unpredictable love mystery comedy. It's a work that will make you chuckle, but also weaves in the loneliness and conflicts that people carry in their lives. I hope that through Manami's way of life, you can feel the freedom of caring for someone and the strength of love.
◇ Comment from scriptwriter Kota Sawada
When it comes to love and murder, the less the better. This is a dark comedy suspense that I hope you will enjoy, but I made it so that each and every love and death is not trivialized. I hope you will watch it with kindness.
The main character, Manami, is a free-spirited detective who chooses to fall in love no matter what tragedy she faces, and finds herself in a difficult situation as a result. She has lost countless loved ones and is more hurt than anyone else, but she lives her life without lying to herself about her feelings. By the way, she does her job as a detective properly.
The idea for this drama was conceived with the sole thought, "I want to see a cool detective with a strange personality!", but as we worked together with the staff to refine it, it turned into a drama with too many characters who seem to be missing something or are missing something.
The junior detective who is too kind and is constantly at the mercy of Manami, and the friends who are too foul-mouthed and overly nosy. My loves have a wide range of charms. Thanks to the efforts of Mori-san and the rest of the cast, they all became incredibly lovable people.
It would be great if viewers could think, "My situation isn't as complicated as Manami's, so I'll try to live another day." Even if you're not interested in love or murder, or if you're wondering, "What is my love?", I highly recommend it.
