Actor Takayuki Yamada attended NTT Docomo's "Lemino Content Presentation 2026" held in Tokyo on February 19th. He spoke about the actor audition program he is producing, "THE OPEN CALL -MAIN PARTNER Takayuki Yamada-."
The program is a project to recruit cast members for an original film scheduled for release in 2027. Yamada will not only serve as a judge, but will also act with the actors who participate in the auditions, exploring his own acting skills and working with them to create the original film.
They are currently recruiting participants, and he expressed his hopes, saying, "Even at this stage, quite a lot of people have applied. I've seen the video myself, and it looks like it's going to be interesting. Right now, we're getting a lot of applications from freelancers, but I think we'll probably see an increase in applications from agencies. I'd love to make a movie with wonderful people."
Since the announcement on February 2nd, he has been feeling the positive response to the auditions, saying, "I've heard from people of my generation, as well as my juniors, seniors, and producers, saying things like, 'You're doing a great project,' and they're paying attention to me." He continued, "The audition involves a performance, and many actors have put their hands up, saying, 'I'd love to be involved. I want to work together,' so I think it's good for the audience to look forward to it as well. People have said things like, 'Are you coming? Seriously?!'"
Regarding future developments, he expressed his hope for continuation, saying, "I'm assuming that many people will watch it, but even if it's successful, I don't intend to end it as a one-off. I want to continue."
