The final trailer (emotional version) for the TV drama series "Kitakata Kenzo Suikoden," starring Oda Yuji, was released on February 4th. The drama will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Prime and WOWOW On Demand every Sunday at 9pm starting February 15th. It will also be streamed on Lemino at the same time.
The original work is the monumental historical epic novel "Suikoden" series (19 volumes, Shueisha Bunko) by Kitakata Kenzo. It is a reconstruction of "Suikoden," considered one of China's three great classics, with a total circulation of over 11.6 million copies. It is the first of the "Great Suikoden" trilogy, which will be followed by "Yang Lingden" and "Yue Feiden." Set in China at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty (early 12th century), the drama tells the story of Song Jiang (played by Oda), who rises up in despair over the rampant corruption of the world, and the rebellion of the "outcasts" he gathers around him.
The trailer opens with Song Jiang, determined to rebuild his ruined country, talking about Liangshanbo, the base of the rebellion, saying, "It may be a small country, but it's a country where people with big ambitions gather." Others who share the same ambition gather around Song Jiang. Chao Gai (Takashi Sorimachi), another leader who stands up against the state, and Lin Chong (Kazuya Kamenashi), who continues to fight, shouldering his own responsibility, and others step toward their destinies with unyielding beliefs.
As MISIA's theme song "Yoru wo Wataru Tori" resonates dynamically, the characters dream of an ideal country and risk their lives to survive for their families, friends, and their own beliefs. The trailer shows how thoughts clash and beliefs intersect.
The narrator of the final trailer is Junichi Suwabe, a voice actor who has played Keigo Atobe in "The Prince of Tennis" and Ryomen Sukuna in "Jujutsu Kaisen." Suwabe will also be narrating the main story.
Additionally, a serial project titled "Kimura Tatsunari Reads Kitakata Kenzo's 'Suikoden'" by Kimura Tatsunari, who plays the role of "Nine-Crested Dragon" Shi Jin in the film, has also been announced. As Kimura reads through the original work, he will talk about the appeal of the "Suikoden" series, behind-the-scenes stories from the filming of the drama that can only be heard here, and his thoughts on the work. The series began on February 1st on Shueisha's special website for Kitakata Kenzo's "Great Suikoden Series," and is scheduled to be updated every two weeks from now. The serial will consist of 10 parts, with additional interviews planned.
