Former TV Tokyo announcer and TV personality Kasumi Mori has been selected as the "2025 Face of the Year" by the monthly information magazine Nikkei Trendy (Nikkei BP), and appeared at the "Nikkei Trendy '2025 Hit Products & 2026 Hit Predictions' Presentation" held in Tokyo on November 3rd. When asked how she felt about being selected as "Face of the Year," Mori expressed her joy, saying, "I'm humbled, or should I say, really humbled."
Since leaving the company in March 2023, Mori has been active in a wide range of fields, but she revealed the situation at the time, saying, "When I left TV Tokyo, I really had no plans. Nothing had been decided, so I just quit with a feeling of 'Eh!' (wry smile)." She then said with a smile, "I'm very honored to be standing here now. I'm happy."
Mori, who turned 30 in June this year, reflected on her activities this year, saying, "I received a lot of offers and it was a year in which I took them seriously." She humorously stated her aspirations, saying, "In 2026 I will be 30 and have entered my 30s, so I hope to start speaking out more about the things I want to do. My motivation is 'mountain climbing'."
The announcement was also attended by SKY-HI, an artist and producer who was also selected as the "Face of the Year for 2025" along with Mori, and actor Ryubi Miyase, who was selected as the "Face of Next Year for 2026."
In the "Top 30 Hit Products of 2025," "Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan with Myaku Myaku" came in first, "National Treasure" in second, and Nintendo Switch 2 in third. Also, the popular rock band Mrs. Green Apple was selected for the "Sound of the Year," a new award that was established this year.
