The 22nd episode of the NHK Taiga drama "BROTHERS IN ARMS （Toyotomi Brothers!）" (NHK General, Sundays at 8pm, etc.), starring actor Taiga Nakano, aired on June 7th. The episode, titled "Harima's Great Miscalculation," featured an exchange between Araki Murashige (Tortoise Shun Oguri), who narrowly escaped being suspected of rebellion by Oda Nobunaga (Shun Oguri), and his "beautiful wife" Dashi (Kasumi Yamaya), which attracted the attention of viewers.
"BROTHERS IN ARMS （Toyotomi Brothers!）" is the 65th Taiga drama. With Toyotomi Hidenaga (Koichiro) as the protagonist, it depicts the miraculous feat of unifying Japan together with his older brother Hideyoshi (Tokichiro) through their strong bond, a success story of dreams and hopes.
In episode 22, Hideyoshi (Sosuke Ikematsu) seemed to have secured Harima, but Hanbei's (Masaki Suda) bad premonition proved correct. The local lords who were supposed to be subservient to him revolted, and the Mori and Ukita clans also rose in revolt in response. To make matters worse, Hanbei's health deteriorated, forcing Hideyoshi to abandon his allies and retreat. Tormented by guilt, Hideyoshi tripped one night, hit his head, and lost his memory... and that's how the story unfolded.
In that episode, Murashige, who visited Azuchi Castle, was suspected of rebellion by Nobunaga and interrogated.
Murashige, following Nobunaga's orders, shoved one bun after another into his mouth, somehow managing to prove his innocence (?), but his heart was chilled. He swore to Nobunaga that he would find the traitor, and when he returned to Arioka Castle, he told Dashi, "I was completely wrongly accused. I never want to see a bun again in my life," and asked her to give him a lap pillow.
He continued, whining, "I'm perfectly happy just being with you like this. I have absolutely no intention of betraying the Lord, so why can't you understand that?" But Dashi calmly and clearly said, "Considering everything you've done up until now, it's understandable that you wouldn't believe me."
Murashige retorted like a spoiled child, "That was the only way to survive." Just then, the "suspicious retainer" arrived, ending the exchange.
