"Rat Collective," a science fiction manga by Chika Omura, who won the Encouragement Award in the July 2023 Young Magazine Monthly Newcomer Award and the 90th Excellent Newcomer Award in the Young Division of the 2024 Tetsuya Chiba Award, will begin serialization in the 26th issue of the manga magazine "Young Magazine" (Kodansha), released on May 25th. This will be Omura's debut serialized work.
"Rat Collective" is set in Japan in 2069, a time when the colossal corporation GENNAI holds sway. In a society where the gap between rich and poor is widening, Kyosuke, a young man living in the depths of poverty, cannot understand the suspicious suicide of his best friend, Yuya, an elite employee of GENNAI. In his emptiness after losing his friend, he encounters Easy, a strange talking mouse. The truth revealed to him and the mysterious powers bestowed upon him will drastically alter the course of Kyosuke's life.
This issue features Haruko Kokoro, Miss Young Magazine of Miss Magazine 2025, and Anri Egashira, Miss Weekly Shonen Magazine, on the cover.
