Wakasa Fisheries High School, where Shunichi Asano (played by Kitamura) works, was in danger of closing down, but thanks to the efforts of Kaori Hiyama (played by Asami Kumakiri) and other people from Obama, it was decided that it would merge with Wakasa Obama High School. It will continue to exist as the "Wakasa Obama High School Marine Science Department."
Asano, along with Masaki Kurose (played by Yoshiyoshi Arakawa), was preparing for the entrance ceremony as a teacher in the Department of Marine Science. Sugawara Nami ( Natsuki Deguchi), a first-year student who had worked with Asano, then a first-year teacher, to develop canned mackerel for space food, arrived. She had just been assigned to the department as a new teacher.
Then, Ruka (played by Kodai Kurosaki Kirayo), who was in the same first graduating class as Nami, enrolls in the Department of Marine Science. Ruka, who uses a wheelchair, longs for the weightlessness of space and has a strong passion for the space food mackerel can project.
Nami hopes that other students besides Ruka will also become interested in developing space food, but she is shocked when they say, "Isn't that something that didn't work out no matter how many years you tried?" Nami and Ruka decide to restart the development of canned mackerel for space food together.
Later, Nanaka Komatsuzaki (played by Kokoro Hirasawa) and Suzu Kawakami (played by Riko Ishida) also join the space food development project. Nami asks Asano for his help, but he seems somewhat indifferent, and Nami's frustration grows...
Meanwhile, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has begun recruiting astronauts. Becoming an astronaut is the goal and long-held dream of Makoto Kijima (Ryunosuke Kamiki), who continues to develop the "Draft Certification Standards for Japanese Space Food." However, something seems to be bothering him...
The drama is an original coming-of-age story based on the true story of students at a fisheries high school in Fukui Prefecture who challenged themselves to achieve their big dream of "developing space food."
