A 4K digital restoration of "Gamera the Giant Monster" (directed by Noriaki Yuasa), the first film in the "Gamera" monster movie series and released in 1965, will be broadcast on BS12 TwellV from 7:00 p.m. on November 2nd.
Professor Hidaka (Funakoshi Eiji), his assistant Yamamoto (Kiritate Harumi), and accompanying newspaper photographer Aoyagi (Yamashita Junichiro) visit the Arctic to conduct a research study on turtles, and discover a giant monster called "Gamera" emerging from the ice that has been cracked by the impact of an airplane crash.
Gamera flies through the sky and attacks a lighthouse in faraway Hokkaido. A boy named Toshio (Yoshiro Uchida), who loves turtles, is saved by Gamera and then begins to follow Gamera's trail. Every plan is put into place to counter Gamera, who attacks all over Japan, but all of them fail. Will human wisdom succumb to Gamera?
On the same day, from 8:33 pm, a special program titled "A Close Look at the 4K Digital Restoration of 'Gamera the Giant Monster'" will also be broadcast.
